End: 05/26/2012 - 3:00pm

Marcus Luttrell, author of "Lone Survivor", has written his latest book "SERVICE: A Navy SEAL at War" about his own experiences as a combat-trained Navy SEAL and about the soldiers who give their lives to defend their nation and each other. Still fresh from Operation RAMADI in Iraq and Operation REDWING in Afghanistan, Luttrell retired from the SEALs and began the turbulent transition back to civilian life, embarking on a quest to understand why a rare few choose to dedicate their lives to the protection of their country for a cause that is both abstract and deeply personal. Touring the country and connecting wiht veterans of all generations, he met with military from all service branches - Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines - in the hope of making their stories known.

"SERVICE" spans the entire spectrum of modern U.S. Military history, from World War II to the present, and touches what defines our martial tradition, from West Point to the Naval Academy to the Guards at the Tomb of the Unknown

George Galdorisi and Lawrence Verria - The Kissing Sailor, Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 6:00 pm

Start: 06/07/2012 - 6:00pm

End: 06/07/2012 - 6:00pm

The authors have done extensive research to collect the evidence, by providing irrefutable proof to the identities of the Kisssing Sailor and nurse. All these years we have wondered who they were! but now the 67-year old mystery can be put to rest. The famous LIFE photographer Alfred Eisenstaedt never got their names, so the mystery lingered on. Now we have the evidence as to their identies, but how the authors were able to come the conclusion, you will have to read the book to learn. Mr. Galdorisi is an entertaining speaker, so do come and lister - it will be a fun evening.

Gregory Crouch - China's Wings, Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at 6:30 pm

Start: 06/12/2012 - 6:30pm

End: 06/12/2012 - 6:30pm

Gregory Crouch has written an exciting story. It will transport you to a fascinating time when intrepid Americans and their Chinese partners struggle to establish a sophisticated air network over a vast land that barely knew electricity. The idea for the book started in 2002 when a friend of Crouch, Charlie Fowler, sent him an email about him hearing stories of old World War II American plane wrecks in Eastern Himalaya. "You, Greg, is a military history guy and a mountaineer; you should write a story about that!" Web searches quickly gave Crouch the information he needed about the China National Aviation Corporation )CNAC) a civil airline partnership between Pan American Airways and Chiang Kai-shek that flew and fought in China from 1929 to 1949. It also put him in touch with the president of the CNAC ASSociaiton, Bill Maher, who was having a reunion in San Francisco. When he learned that Crouch was exploring the possibility of writing a book about this airline, he told him to attend: "We've got great stories." Crouch attended, met up with Maher and his flying band of brothers and left with the discovery of an untold, compelling and significant story that he was meant to tell. China's Wings is a story that is part adventure, part unearthed history. Fascinating!
