"One of the BEST Historical fiction books I have read! Being a tomboy in rural Texas at the turn of the century was difficult even with 6 brothers... the conflict between being a "lady" or a naturalist like her beloved Grandfather rings true. 5 STARS!"

"Two high school graduates, with only the funds from their bicycle shop, go up against those with post-graduate educations and government grants and other funding.

Their investigative approach, the depth of their study of theory and perseverance take them through multiple trials until they succeed, but then they face the challenge of proof and demonstration worldwide.

Guess who did not believe them.. You must read the book to find out!

Their approach personifies the grit and determination that made America great!

 ENJOY!"

"I just finished this, and I highly recommend it. The plot is well structured, the characters are fully drawn - and of course Dorothy Parker as a ghost is intriguing. Meister wrote an earlier Dorothy Parker book, but this is better and does now require having read the first one."

The Residence by Kate Andersen Brower

"A quick read that provides rare insights into the White House offering unique views of the executive mansion from the perspective of the long serving staff that cares for the residence and the first family. This book covers a span from the Kennedy to the Obama administrations. While it provides limited insight into the private details and personalities of the various first families, it focuses mostly on the efforts and dedication of the staff to care for and protect the Presidents and their families. A great read! Definitely recommend!"

Jerry Lee Lewis His Own Story by Rick Bragg

"It is possible only Rick Bragg could do true justice to The Killer, a man whose music an indelible aspect of the American cultural scene. Bragg's knowledge of the South enables him to provide the background of a region of incredible contradictions that spawned Jerry Lee Lewis and helped contribute to a musical revolution, which eventually swept the world. Lewis' own improbable life complements the story of a cultural phenomenon that helped to change society and is still relevant today."

"This is such a wonderfully constructed novel. The book follows the two main characters, Marie Laure and Werner, as they grown up and becomes enmeshed in World War II. Mr. Doerr very skillfully interweaves their stories and the worlds they each come from. The writing is excellent and the story is very fresh and original.

Wayfaring Stranger by James Lee Burke

"We meet Weldon Holland, first as a young boy, captivated by Bonnie & Clyde, then follow him through the conditions of WWII as he earns a hero's status, including the rescue of a woman from a Nazi death camp.  Post-war Weldon and his war buddy commercialize the welding technique that revolutionizes oil drilling in TX, OK and LA. Shakespeare would be envious of the descriptive paragraphs Burke writes as we accompany Weldon from boy, to war hero, to husband. In his evolving story he encounters evil that rivals his horrors of WWII."
